Jamie Westman

Jamie Westman

treble boy soprano

 Jamie Westman - USA

Internationally acclaimed vocalist 12-year-old Jamie Westman presents a delightful repertoire of sacred and secular classics.

Whether it be the traditional Irish favorite Danny Boy or the technically-difficult Let the Bright Seraphim, the treble from St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada, gives the same quality of sterling performance that has captivated audiences in concert halls and cathedrals of Canada, the United States, Belgium and the Netherlands.

In 1983, he was guest-artist-in-residence with the Paris Boys' Choir, France, during a tour of Europe as lead soloist with the prestigious Americas Boychoir.

As Jamie's reputation spread, he was invited to give a special presentation of the entire fourth movement, in German, of the Mahler Symphony No. 4 in G, accompanied by the New England Conservatory Youth Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Benjamin Zander, at Jordan Hall, Boston, Massachusetts. So impressed were New England orchestra officials with Jamie's Mahler performance that he has been selected for tours of Poland, Austria and East Germany.

Christmas 1983 became a special memory for Jamie when he was guest soloist at the Concert of the Nations in Saltillo, Mexico.

The groundwork for Jamie's international travels was laid in several years of performing in concerts, musiclas and church services throughout Ontario. They include a special coffee concert at the acclaimed Stratford Summer Music Celebration. As a devoted choir boy of St. Michael's Boy's Choir since 1982, his voice was trained and developed by his Choir Master, John F. M. Wood.
