Biography - Dionizy Placzkowski (Dennis)

The inhabitants of Poznan have no problem with European integration. They do not have to enter Europe, because they have been a part of it for years. Their presence is most visible in the realm of music.
It is widely known that the two superb choirs, Agnieszka Duczmal's chamber orchestra, the Teatr Wielki, which is famous for Polish performances of modern operas, and many others constitute the Poznan music scene, but not everybody knows that young talents are growing in Poznan too. One of them, a student of Jerzy Kurczewski Choir School performed at the inauguration of our magazine. His name is Dionizy Placzkowski and he is a 12 year old soloist of the Poznan Nightingales Boys Choir. He has been singing with the choir under the lead of Wojciech Krolopp for two years now and has made a great progress.
Last year, he gave a solo performance with the Rome Opera Orchestra at Karakalli thermal springs, at a concert in which the most remarkable tenors of our times; Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti appeared on stage. Dionizy sang Leonard Bernstain's 'Chichester Psalms', in Yiddish, in which he was trained by Rev Prof. B. Ponizy. "He was just crawling then, although the performance was on a satisfactory level",, said W. Krolopp. "He has made a considerable progress since then. Dionizy has a perfect voice, reads music very fast and is very talented". At present, the boy soprano gives concerts with the choir all over Europe. He can sing in eight languages and knows works even as difficult as Handel's "Messiah". If the conductor of Poznan Nightingale and his teachers succeed in leading the boy through the change in his voice, which is always a big unknown, then; who knows, maybe one day, he will become the next Pavarotti?
Wojciech Krolopp says that Dionizy Placzkowski is gifted; "If he was a pianist, I would not hesitate to say that he has a potential for a world career. We wish Dionizy all the best and good luck

Nastepca Pavarottiego?
Powszechnie wiadomo, ze w grodzie Przemyslawa istnieja znakomite chóry, Orkiestra Kameralna Agnieszki Duczmal, Teatr Wielki znany z polskich prawykonan wspólczesnych oper itp. Robi blyskawiczne postepy.
W czerwcu ub. r. zaspiewal solo z orkiestra rzymskiej Opery w Termach Karakalli, gdzie koncertowali m.in. najslynniejsi tenorzy naszych czasów: Carreras, Domingo i Pavarotti. Wykonal tam w jezyku jidysz, w którym szkolil go ks. prof. B. Ponizy, utwór "Chichester Psalms" Leonarda Bernsteina.
Dzisiaj mlody sopran wystepuje z chórem w calej Europie.
Zyczymy mu szczescia i powodzenia.

Dionizy Placzkowski (Dennis) was a soloist with the Polish Nightingales led by W. Alexander Krolopp and also a pupil at the exclusive Polish Choral School founded by Jerzy Kurczewski. His first performance was in Bernsteins Chichester Psalms at Caracalla with the Rome Opera Orchestra. As well as more than 300 concerts with the choir he also specialized in the soprano solos of St. John Passion by J. S. Bach and took part in 36 performances of Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute (Bad Hersfeld, Berlin). He has his own album entitled 'Dennis and the Polish Nightingales' recorded when he was 13/14. He is also a main soloist on the album 'Baroque in South America'. He features in the documentary film L'Or des Anges two Polish films, Volate Angeli and Misa encarnación and with Bartosz Rajpold he recorded music by Heinrich Schütz accompanied by period instruments.
